History of Calpe
Calpe Industrial has been specialized in supplying a wide range of electrical materials and components for more than 70 years.
In the meantime, it has grown into a knowledge center where customers can go with all their questions for technical advice and support in addition to regular orders.
Our timeline
In recent years, Calpe Industrial has also been challenged to respond creatively to changing market conditions. Material shortages and price changes are the order of the day. Due to the strong bond and often long-term collaboration with the most important partners, we are able to respond to this as best as possible.
Due to additional investments in expanding the stock and an additional warehouse location, we can still supply most basic products from stock.
This year we are celebrating the 100th anniversary of two important partners: Jacob (cable glands) and Lovato Electric (low-voltage components)
After the design and drawing were released by the municipality, the long-awaited first pile was driven into the ground for the construction of a new building on the "De Briellaerd" industrial estate in Barneveld.
In May 2018, the move to a hypermodern (sustainable) building followed, completely CO2 neutral, equipped with 216 solar panels with a yield equal to the consumption of 14 households.
The groundwater source is at a depth of 110 meters and controls 12 pumps in the climate system. The modern air treatment system ensures a pleasant (working) climate in both winter and midsummer.
In order to better meet the increasing demand for halogen-free material, investments were made in expanding the program with the halogen-free assembly cord BETAtherm 90, with 70 pallet spaces immediately a good filling for the new warehouse.
An important year in the almost 60-year existence: John and Frank's shares are taken over by the third generation and the tradition of two brothers, Alex and Olaf, at the helm is continued.
Shortly afterwards, the delivery program is also further expanded. The collaboration with Katko (load switches) and Lovato Electric (low-voltage components) ensures a strengthening of the position towards mechanical engineering (OEM) as a market segment in which Calpe Industrial is active.
Furthermore, the activities were expanded across the national borders and the Calpe flag was raised in Belgium. The commercial activities take place in Belgium, deliveries take place from the central warehouse in the Netherlands.

After several visits to the cable factory Leoni Studer AG (now Studer Cables), the contract for cooperation was signed. This laid the foundation for further development and specialisation in Marine & Offshore.
Cables were developed to customer specifications, mainly for equipment applications. The logical next step was to start up the business unit Calpe Marine. For the first time, the company also participated in the Europort trade fair in Ahoy Rotterdam.
